Opelika City Council to meet tonight

The Opelika City Council will have a work session at 6:40 p.m., immediately followed by a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Both will be held in the council chambers at city hall, 204 S. 7th St., and are open to the public.
The following items are among those listed on the meeting agendas:
—Resolution for a contract for new Opelika Light & Power director;
—Special recognition of retired Opelika High School head football coach and athletic director Spence McCracken;
—Awarding of bid for road resurfacing program for 2009.
