Opelika woman charged with attempted murder

A 46-year-old woman was arrested and charged Wednesday with two counts of attempted murder in connection with a Feb. 2 domestic dispute that resulted in three people being shot.

Bonnie Faye Sellers Berry of Opelika was arrested at 4:53 p.m. Wednesday and charged in connection with the shooting of Barbara Tielking Sims, 47, of Opelika, and Billy Jack McCormack, 29, of Opelika, according to Opelika police Capt. Allan Elkins.

According to police reports, at the time of the shooting, Sims was shot in the hip and McCormack was shot in the leg.

Berry was shot in the lower abdomen during the incident, which occurred at Oak Haven Mobile Park, 3503 Marvyn Parkway.

Additional charges are not expected in connection to the incident, Elkins said.
