A Beulah man wanted for robbing the Circle K in Valley early Wednesday morning was caught by Valley police that afternoon.
Chief Michael Taylor said Jason Allen Smith, 25, was taken into custody around 4:30 p.m. EST Wednesday after a high-risk traffic stop and charged him with first-degree robbery. He was then transported to the Chambers County Jail for booking.
Valley police sought help in locating Smith after a robbery at the Circle K on 64th Boulevard around 5 a.m. EST. Taylor said the store clerk was able to provide a detailed description of the alleged robber for authorities to issue a warrant for Smith’s apprehension.
Taylor said a confidential informant told police Smith had plans to leave the Valley area. Police then set up surveillance in certain areas until they spotted Smith’s car. Taylor said Smith was arrested without incident.
Smith may face additional charges for an attempted robbery in Lanett a few weeks ago, Taylor said.
