Salem man arrested in connection with rape, kidnapping

Opelika police have arrested a Salem man in connection to the June 20 kidnapping and rape of a 21-year-old woman.

Ferrico Decurtley Jones, 30, was arrested at 3:20 p.m. Thursday in connection with the case, Opelika police Capt. Allan Elkins said.

Jones was charged with rape in the first degree, theft of property in the third degree, unlawful imprisonment in the first degree and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, Elkins said.

The victim had reported she was kidnapped and raped in the 2200 block of Stone Street between 1 and 1:30 a.m. June 20.
