Sister Liu comes to Auburn University
Published: June 4, 2008
A group of 27 nationally acclaimed artists from Guangxi, China, will be performing their fingerprint show known as “Sister Liu” on Friday, June 13 at the Foy Ballroom on the Auburn University campus.
The Chinese opera, “Liu San Jie,“ which can be translated as “Sister Liu,“ is a well-known love story of an ethnic (Zhuang) minority in Southern China.
Even though the show was organized by the AU Chinese Professional Association and the AU Chinese Students and Scholars Organization last year, it is being held as a benefit for the victims of the recent earthquake in China. Any profit will be donated to earthquake relief funds.
AUCPA and CSO have raised nearly $15,000 for the cause so far.
The event is also sponsored by Auburn’s Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs.
Tickets are $5 for Auburn students and employees with valid ID, $15 for general public and free for children 10 years and younger. Tickets will be on sale from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. today through Friday inside the Mell Street entrance of Ralph Draughon Library.
For ticket reservation, please call 444-2723 or e-mail , or call 333-4345 or e-mail .
