Two suspects led police in a car chase on Memorial Day after taking more than $800 in golf balls from Dick’s Sporting Goods at TigerTown.

At approximately 3:35 p.m. Monday, two suspects took 18 cases of Pro V1 golf balls worth $827.82 from Dick’s Sporting Goods, according to Opelika police Capt. Allan Elkins.

The suspects left the store in a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser and then led Opelika police in a car chase northbound on Interstate 85, Elkins said. They were later taken into custody by Georgia State Patrol near West Point, Ga., Elkins said.

The suspects are expected to be returned to Lee County to be arrested, Elkins said. The names of the suspects should be released following their arrests, he said.
