Thrower visitation, funeral times set

Visitation hours for John “Stump” Thrower, a 56-year-old radio personality from Auburn who was found dead Monday, is 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home. A graveside service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Rosemere Cemetery in Opelika.

Thrower was a regular on the afternoon talk show Sports Call, which can be heard locally on 93.9 FM with Bill Cameron. He was also a columnist for The Auburn Villager and veteran attorney. Known for his passion for Auburn football, Thrower developed a reputation for his historical knowledge of the Tigers’ program.

He was found dead Monday at his home in Auburn.
