Two indicted in connection with church burning

The two men arrested and charged in January in connection with burning three churches and vandalizing another were indicted on arson and burglary charges this week.

This week’s grand jury indicted Geoffrey Tyler Parquette and James Scott Clark, both 21 and of Smiths Station, each on charges of one count of second-degree arson and third-degree burglary, District Attorney Nick Abbett said today.

The indictments are in connection with the burning of Greater Bethelpore Baptist Church in Salem Jan.3. When arrested in January, the two were charged in connection with three area church fires.
