The Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is in the midst of hosting the “largest non-football weekend in Auburn.”

Assistant Dean Gary Beard said the 101st annual conference, which runs through Sunday, will draw nearly 2,000 veterinarians, technicians and spouses for seminars, entertainment and class reunions to the Wire Road campus and The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center.

This year’s theme is “One Medicine” to reflect the convergence of human, animal and public health.

He said discoveries in veterinary medicine have relevance in human medicine and vice versa.

Both the American Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association have stated their support for a One Health Initiative.

A charity golf tournament was held Thursday to raise funds for special projects at the college.

Friday night, a Family Fun Night for attendees will include a presentation by the Southeastern Raptor Center and music by the Tyn Tymes.
