Wren schedules news conference on PACT program

MONTGOMERY - A Republican legislator plans to outline a package of proposed bills to rescue Alabama’s financially troubled prepaid college tuition program.

State Rep. Greg Wren of Montgomery has scheduled a news conference for 2 p.m. at the Alabama Statehouse to unveil the plan to pump dollars into the ailing PACT program.

The board of directors of the PACT program meets next month and is also expected to offer proposed legislation to make sure the program has enough money to pay the tuition for the 48,000 participants in the program.
