Suicide bomber kills 16 people in northwestern Iraq

The blast occurred in Sinjar, a town near the Syrian border that was the site of the deadliest attack of the war — a series of suicide truck bombings that killed an estimated 500 people. Nobody has claimed responsibility for the latest attack.
Gut superbug causing more illnesses, deaths
The number of people hospitalized with a dangerous intestinal superbug has been growing by more than 10,000 cases a year, according to a new study.
The germ, resistant to some antibiotics, has become a regular menace in hospitals and nursing homes. The study found it played a role in nearly 300,000 hospitalizations in 2005, more than double the number in 2000. The infection, Clostridium difficile, is found in the colon.

U.S. Highway 280 remains closed after a truck carrying gas overturned at the intersection of U.S. Highway 280 and Lee Road 430 near the Lee County Flea Market. The truck was operated by Young Oil Company, based in Piedmont, Ala.
