Google says he died in 1834. But, did he have a son and successor, another Marquis de Lafayette? If not, his assistance to the Confederacy is even more impressive.
Considering that LaFayette’s tour of Alabama was in 1825, I’m impressed that he was celebrated for assisting the Confederacy.
