Let’s rid Washington of politicians who are unqualified, unscrupulous
I wasted the afternoon watching CNN, and a bunch of bazillionaires point fingers at other bazillionaires, if you missed it. I think I can sum it up in two sentences:
Shame on all those greedy corporate CEOs, and their huge mega-salaries and golden parachutes; a pox on all you politicians, (the other guys, not me) with your lobbyist-supplied houses, vacation homes, fancy cars, trips, cushy after-politics jobs, and freezers full of cash.
I know I’m not very smart, but even I can spot a bunch of rich guys flailing about, trying to hang onto their cash cow jobs.
Their main expertise lies in their ability to use shovels, the ones that keep you and me chin deep in cow poop. The nearest thing I have to a golden parachute is a half a tank of $4-a-gallon gas.
With the elections just a few weeks away, we need to fully understand the responsibility that goes with the privilege to vote.
If you’re satisfied with the path our elected officials are taking this country and believe they have our country’s best interests at heart, by all means, give them your vote.
But, please ask them why have they not exposed the dishonesty of others.
We should remind our elected officials that we put ’em in, and we can take ’em out.
The longer we keep re-electing unqualified or unscrupulous politicians, the more time they have to sneak in loopholes, cracks and gotcha’s.
While it is possible that newly elected, less experienced officials could be just as bad, or worse, we need to let them know that they have only one term to prove themselves.
Let’s have a public outcry so overwhelming that Moses himself would’ve been proud. Let’s “throw the bums out!”

Democrats, liberals can’t get this nation on the right track
The media and their first cousins the liberal Democrats have been creating this idea that President Bush has been a terrible president and he’s leaving a “mess to be straightened out.”
Their side is the only one that has all the characteristics to get us back on the right path.
Unfortunately, this is a great lie for which that party and its backers can do with great ease. This last Congress, which they presided over, has done what?
Nothing, except pass 1,500 resolutions, while preventing oil exploration offshore and in 2,000 acres of the barren Arctic region and dragging their feet on getting new nuclear plants approved.
It took them three and a half years to pass a Security Bill to keep Americans safe.
Their appointees on the Supreme Court have given alien combatants rights to come to courts, all the while letting judgeships go vacant in order to prevent those Bush appointed from being approved.
Their candidate did not serve in the military nor can he see fit to wear an American flag lapel pin, nor visit the wounded troops on his recent Middle East visit since the media’s cameras were not allowed into the military hospitals.
Barack Obama’s judgment was proven wrong on the surge that Bush proposed and would be wrong on thinking that Iran would change its behavior simply by meeting with their radical leader.
As for Gov. Sarah Palin and the folks on the right, no one has the right of abortion, taking the life of someone else; a baby in the womb is not a part of the mother’s body but a living person, for a brief time inside their mother, with a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Is this the party that can get us back on the right track? I think not.

Avoiding mention of science by GOP well-documented
After the political conventions, ASEE (American Society for Engineering Education) asked on its Web site why science was not mentioned at either convention. The question should have been directed towards the Republicans, since the American public in general and Democrats accept the good of science as a matter of general principle.
The avoidance of science by Republicans is well documented, whether for global warming, health standards or stem-cell research.
“Gag rules” and “just say no” policies reflect the Republican attitude towards knowledge in general.
Now, in keeping with Republican problem solving, we have their selection of their vice-presidential candidate only to learn that her unmarried daughter is pregnant!
What a vivid reminder of the albatross the Republicans hung on American school girls with their “just say no” approach to sex education.
