Weekend picks, Week 6
Having to start early this week with Boise State playing tonight. As always, AP Top 25 and SEC picks
Last week: 11-7 (Ugh, I know)
Overall: 93-22
Today:
Louisiana Tech at No. 17 Boise State
La Tech is always deceptively tough and has, on occasion, played fairly well in Boise. Boise State 41, Louisiana Tech 28
Thursday:
Pittsburgh at No. 10 South Florida
Now that Mike Ford is healthy the Bulls are starting to become the team I thought they were. South Florida 27, Pittsburgh 7
Oregon State at No. 15 Utah
Can the Beavers pull off two straight Thursday night upsets? Nah. Utah 33, Oregon State 25
Friday:
No. 8 BYU at Utah State
Poor Utah State should really stop playing their in-state rivals. BYU 42, Utah State 10
Saturday:
No. 1 Oklahoma at Baylor
The new, mildly-competitive Bears get their first chance in the spotlight. They might lose by a touchdown or two less than they normally would. Oklahoma 48, Baylor 14
Kentucky at No. 2 Alabama
The Tide will probably suffer a bit of a letdown here, but it shouldn’t matter with as anemic as Kentucky’s offense has been. Alabama 24, Kentucky 7
No. 4 Missouri at Nebraska
Even if Nebraska’s defense somehow surrendered 35 points to Virginia Tech, and as much as I like Missouri, they haven’t won in Lincoln in 30 years and until they do I’m not picking them. Nebraska 41, Missouri 35
No. 5 Texas at Colorado
Texas isn’t as good as it has looked, but they’re better than Colorado. Texas 30, Colorado 21
No. 6 Penn State at Purdue
There might not be anyone left in the stadium to sing “Shout” in the fourth quarter. Penn State 41, Purdue 21
No. 7 Texas Tech at Kansas State
A nice Big XII shootout. Texas Tech 56, Kansas State 34
No. 23 Oregon at No. 9 USC
The Trojans take out their anger on the wounded Ducks (HA!) USC 38, Oregon 10
No. 12 Florida at Arkansas
The Gators are pretty flawed, but luckily for them Arkansas is terrible. Florida 31, Arkansas 7
No. 13 Auburn at No. 19 Vanderbilt (Yeah, you read this right and Gameday’s there too AGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH)
The stuff around this game just does not compute. But on the field is pretty easy. Auburn 17, Vanderbilt 10
No. 14 Ohio State at No. 18 Wisconsin
Madison is a scary place at night, but here’s where the Buckeyes remind us that they’re pretty good. Ohio State 24, Wisconsin 14
No. 16 Kansas at Iowa State
Poor Gene Chizik. Kansas 38, Iowa State 20
Western Kentucky at No. 20 Virginia Tech
The Hokies get a break from three straight physical battles. Virginia Tech 34, Western Kentucky 6
Texas A&M at No. 21 Oklahoma State
The Aggies have looked awful so far. Oklahoma State 44, Texas A&M 17
Hawaii at No. 22 Fresno State
I can’t think of anything to say about this one. Fresno State 28, Hawaii 7
No. 24 Connecticut at North Carolina
The Huskies’ undefeated run comes to an end. North Carolina 27, Connecticut 21
South Carolina at Ole Miss
This is a perfect opportunity for a letdown and a pretty heavy coaching mismatch in Spurrier vs. Nutt, but the Gamecocks have just looked too bad for me to take them on the road against anyone any good. Ole Miss 20, South Carolina 13
Northern Illinois at Tennessee
Take heart, Tennessee fans! At least you’ll win this one. Although the Huskies have been mildly frisky so far. Tennessee 27, Northern Illinois 13
