Fore ...

I’ve played two rounds of golf in the last six days.
Life is good.
How good? Well, read on ... the LBWC is in full effect.
5) Saturday. We are the Champions.
We had a bunch of state champions/championships over the last couple days.
A handful of area track and field athletes won individual state titles, while the Glenwood baseball team captured the school’s 17th state championship by beating Monroe Academy in the best-of-three series.
Congrats to all the athletes and teams. You can read about all of that here and here, including one James Harris, who won three individual titles for Lanett. I think he also found a cure for the common cold while he was at it. Seriously, this guy’s that good.
4) Saturday. One Step Away.
The Auburn High baseball team also clinched a shot at its first state championship since 1986 by beating Mary Montgomery in the best-of-three series this past weekend.
Head coach Matt Cimo has the Tigers rolling at the most important time of the season. With the arms and the bats that AHS possesses, Oxford will have a tough time with the Tigers on Thursday and Friday in Montgomery in the state championship series.
Read about the Tigers’ run to glory here.
3) Friday, Saturday and Sunday .. Really, Sunday.
Last week, I told you if you saw our preps writer David Morrison out and about to tell him what a heckuva job he’s doing. And I actually experienced one of you do that. Thanks.
Well now, you have a new objective next time you see Young Morrison. Give him a pat on the back. He deserves it. Just not too hard, I can’t afford him to be on the DL this week. He’s got another BIG week ahead of him.
Over the last two weeks, Morrison’s watched like a million innings of baseball and softball and written about a billion words about it all. And the most amazing thing? He showed up for work today wanting to do more.
Amazing.
Speaking of amazing, I was pumped when our Auburn University beat writer Andrew P. Gribble was able to get some time with former AU Heisman Trophy winner Bo Jackson before his second commencement address on Saturday at Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum.
Bo doesn’t like to speak to the media, but when he does, it’s a home run. Or a touchdown. Or both. Well, it’s this, really. Bo is the man. (Growing up, I had one poster on my wall, and it was of Bo Jackson, when he played for the Oakland Raiders, running over some poor, poor linebacker on his way to no doubt another touchdown. It’s too bad an injury cut his career short, because he would have been one of the greatest NFL players to ever tote the rock. He’s already got that distinction in the college ranks.)
2) Sunday. Hey, I can do that.
You know why I love the TPC at Sawgrass ... or better known as The Players Championship? Because the Stadium Course makes even the best golfers look like the average weekend hacker ... ie, me.
Did you see Alex Cejka? A 79? On Sunday? Wow.
What about Tiger Woods? The question going into Sunday’s final round wasn’t if, but when would Tiger run down Cejka, who had a 5-stroke lead to start the day. Well, it never happened.
Tiger looked more human than I’ve ever seen him on his way to a 73. But the fact that Tiger escaped with a 1-over 73 just showed how good he really is, because I never saw him hit the ball that poorly. I guess he’s more than human after all. But he wasn’t Tiger-esque.
But, again, that’s why I love The Players. Everyone, at one time or another, looks like this. Or this.
1) Sunday. Viva la Mother’s Day.
Happy Mother’s Day to all. Especially the Lazy Momma. Love you, Mom.
Here at the Lazy Compound, Mother’s Day kicked off for the Busy Girl on Saturday night with the Busy Baby’s ballet recital. It was probably the best Mother’s Day (and early Father’s Day) present ever. BB looked so beautiful (she was a flower). It was awesome, and she did a great job. We were/are two very proud parents. Fo Sho.
Then, Sunday, we grubbed. The Busy Baby, Little Tornado and I took the Busy Girl to a nice Mother’s Day lunch here. It was scrumdiddlyumptious.
We had a good time. And just chilled the rest of the day.
She needed it. And, honestly, so did I.
And if you were wondering ... here’s the best song about mothers, ever.
