So this is why they call Florida the sunshine state

It’s sunny in Florida. Go figure.

It’s also not cold anymore. Which, I didn’t get the memo about, because I bundled up in a nice sweater today and about lost my mind. That and 12 pounds.

But, hey, I could use it. Right?

Anyway, we’re counting down the hours until Auburn kicks it off against Northwestern in the Outback Bowl on Friday. Just 42 1/2 (we think.)

We’ve learned a lot about the Northwestern Wildcats on our trip. And we continue to find out new things about the Auburn Tigers. Like, defensive end Mike Goggans is afraid of roller coasters, as least that’s what Josh Bynes said. That, and Antonio Coleman doesn’t do heights. He likes the tea cups, when he can find one big enough for him to fit in and ride.

We wrote a story about Northwestern walk-on wideout turned star for today’s paper. You can read that here. You’ve got to love the “underdog proves everyone wrong by working hard and following his dream” story. I know I do.

We’ll be back later with some more from Tampa, including a column about Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald. Another interesting story, if you ask me.
