TUSCALOOSA — Alabama men’s basketball forward Demetrius Jemison will miss the entire 2009-10 season with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

The injury, confirmed by an MRI on Sunday, will require surgery to repair.

“I’m extremely disappointed for Demetrius,” said Alabama head coach Anthony Grant. “He has worked extremely hard in the offseason to prepare himself for the upcoming year and I’m confident that he will receive the best medical attention available.“

Jemison, a senior from Birmingham, suffered the injury to his left leg during a team workout on Saturday and will undergo surgery on Tuesday to repair the damaged tendon.

Last season, Jemison saw action in 28 games with two starts averaging 3.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.
