The Auburn men’s basketball team received its first commitment Friday, as swingman Heath Howard pledged to sign with the Tigers in 2010, according to AuburnSports.com.

Howard, a 6-foot-7, 230-pound Powder Springs, Ga., native, chose the Tigers over Tulane and Cincinnati, according to the Web site. He averaged 10 points, eight rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game during his junior season, which was shortened by nine games because of a broken nose.

New Auburn men’s assistant basketball coach Ken Potosnak served as Houston’s primary recruiter, according to the Web site.
