Auburn’s 2009 football recruiting class continues to grow.

The Tigers snagged yet another verbal commitment Monday night, when Lilburn, Ga., running back Brandon Jacobs announced his plans to sign with the Tigers in February.

Jacobs, the nephew of former Auburn and NFL offensive lineman Steve Wallace, plays at Lilburn’s Parkview High, the alma mater of current AU senior tailback Brad Lester. Jacobs is looking forward to a reunion.

“I’ll probably see him sometime this week. I’m supposed to work out with him,” Jacobs said in an interview with Auburnsports.com. “I’m excited about committing to Auburn.”

As a junior, Jacobs rushed for 950 yards and scored eight touchdowns, despite missing two games due to injury.

The 6-foot-1, 230-pounder chose AU over scholarship offers from Wake Forest and UAB.

Auburn snagged a verbal commitment from running back Rodney Scott of Cross City, Fla., in May. But Scott is reportedly reconsidering his decision and may end up committing to South Florida.

Jacobs, meanwhile, is set on AU.

“I’m solid,” he said. “I know Auburn is where I want to be.”

Jacobs is Auburn’s 18th commitment for the 2009 recruting class. He is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com.
