AREA ROUNDUP: AHS takes win over Central

TALLASSEE — Auburn High’s baseball team remained perfect on the season with 7-3 win over Central at the Tallassee tournament.

Crede Simpson went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI, Taylor Register was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Glenn Ponder was 1-for-3 with a homer.

Will Ruffin got the win on the mound.

LSA soccer falls at Springwood
LANETT — Despite two goals from Mike Koullas, Lee-Scott’s soccer team fell to Springwood, 5-4.

Brandon Hudson and Lillian Goodman each had a goal for the Warriors (0-1).

LSA plays at home against Taylor Road today.

Auburn softball beats Robert E. Lee
Kailtin Weaver went six innings and struck out 11 to lead Auburn High to a 5-2 win over R.E. Lee.

Devin Duran was 3-for-3 with twoRBI and Peyton Pugh and Weaver each had hits.

Auburn plays Friday at the Central Alabama Classic in Alexander City against Dadeville.

Auburn High JV takes win over Tallassee
The Auburn High JV baseball team beat Tallassee, 13-5, at Opelika Field on Wednesday. 

Drew Eiland got the win. Drew Sikes got the save.

Patrick Carroll and Will Dake each went 4-for-4 at the plate.

Opelika JV wins big over Northside (Ga.)
Opelika’s JV baseball team took down Northside (Ga.), 19-1 on Monday.

Tyler Daniel and Kyle Bugg led the way on the mound.

Caleb Lawrence had a three-run homer and Tyler Rogers went 5-for-5.

Everyone on the team picked up at least one hit.

Smiths Station JV downs Central
Smiths Station’s JV softball team got a 15-0 win over Central on Monday.

Darian Holmes got the win, facing nine batters and giving up no hits.

Jessica Henderson was 3-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Panthers at the plate.

Smiths Station hosts Benjamin Russell on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Beulah JV knocks off Auburn
Beulah’s JV softball team beat Auburn, 6-4 on Wednesday.

Emily Miller was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Jessica Brewer was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Whitney Kinser got the win, striking out 8.

Beulah plays Opelika on Friday.

Sanford MS beats Beulah
Robin Dunaway, Chelsea Messer and Chloe Swats shared time in the pitcher’s circle to help Sanford Middle School down Beulah, 12-1.

Jessica Moffett was 3-for-4 at the plate while Messer, Dunaway and Logan Prickett each went 2-for-4.

Sanford Middle plays at Auburn Jr. High today at 4:30 p.m.

Auburn JV downs Beauregard on Tuesday
Auburn’s JV softball team opened its season with a 9-0 win over Beauregard on Tuesday.

Allison may threw a no hitter, striking out four.

Lauren Moffitt and Emily Glasscock each had two hits for Auburn.

Wacoochee soccer wins over South Girard
Wacoochee Jr. High’s boys beat South Girard, 7-0 on Wednesday.

Jake Stephenson scored three goals, Konnor Price had two goals and Tanner Tomblin and Alex Orellana had a goal each for the Panthers.

OHS girls track places third at Auburn relays
Opelika’s girls track team placed third at the Auburn relays on Saturday.

Kelly Wilson finished first in the high jump and Jasmine Love came in first in the long jump.
