AREA ROUNDUP: Auburn High falls at AUM tournament

MONTGOMERY — Auburn High took a 54-48 loss to Anniston in their second game of the AUM Christmas Roundball Bash on Saturday.

Michael Willis had 15 points, and Will Walker added 12.

In their game Friday, AHS (9-8) fell, 50-46, to Central-Hayneville.

A.J. Jackson led the Tigers with 11 points in that game, and Willis had 10.

The Tigers will next hit the floor on Jan. 2 when they host Opelika.

OHS girls win at Macon Co. Tournament
OGLETHORPE, Ga. — Opelika’s girls rebounded from a tough loss Friday to take a 1-point win over Dooly County (Ga.) on Saturday.

Jasmine Cannon had a double-double for OHS (7-7) in their 54-53 win, netting 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Ambriea Williams had 4 points, 17 rebounds and six steals, and Bethany Howard added 10 points.

Kieara Dexter had 9 points and six rebounds forthe Bulldogs.

Opelika will continue play in the Macon County (Ga.) Tournament on Monday with a matchup with Peach County (Ga.).

Loachapoka wins Dadeville tournament
DADEVILLE — Patrick Moore hit a shot with 2 seconds left to give Loachapoka a 57-55 win over LaFayette, and the championship at the Dadeville Christmas Tournament.

Quez Willis, Tommie White and Ricky Hunter each had 11 points for the Indians while Quin Richardson finished with 10.

Thomas Ray led LaFayette with 24 points and Tevin Meadow had 12.

Loachapoka will next play in the Lee County Tournament at Beulah beginning Jan. 7.

Lanett rolls past Woodland
ROANOKE — Lanett cruised to an 80-43 win over Woodland on Saturday in the Handley Holiday Tournament.

Aquendall Hughley had a double-double to lead the Panthers, notching 21 points and 12 rebounds.

Martavious Findley had 13 points and five rebounds for Lanett, and Quin Rivers had 12 points.
