The Auburn High girls basketball team held off Central in a 47-45 win Tuesday night, while the Tiger boys fell, 69-42.

In the girls game, Auburn (12-5) was led by Tarnesha Stephens’ 12 points. Olivia Cook added 11 for the Tigers, while Rebecca Wynne scored 10 and Je’Nanc Williams scored 9.

Central was led by Monique Jackson’s 13 points.

In the boys game, Will Walker led the way with 14 points for the Tigers (9-10). A.J. Jackson added 9 in the loss.

Darren Daniels led Central with 17 points in the win, while Sean Finney scored 13.

Auburn’s JV boys team won in double overtime, 62-60. D.J. Holley led the Tigers with 15 points, while Ryan Langsford scored 9.

Valley splits with Beauregard
BEAUREGARD — Salasky Gates scored 19 points to lead the Valley boys basketball team to a 78-67 win over Beauregard on Tuesday night.

Beauregard’s Eric Dowdell led all scorers with 22 points, but it wasn’t enough as the Hornets fall to 5-8 overall and 2-2 in Class 5A-Area 6.

Jesse Strickland added 14 for the Hornets, while Dewone Scott scored 12 in the loss.

The Beauregard girls won the night’s first game, 47-44.

Valeeta and Laveeta Bellamy scored 12 points apiece to lead the Hornets (8-4, 4-0).

The Beauregard girls will play Smiths Station today in the first round of the Lee County Tournament at Beulah High School.

Notasulga, Tallassee split
NOTASULGA — Natasha Williams scored a triple-double to lead the Notasulga girls past Tallassee, 66-62. In the second game, the Tallassee boys won a nail-biter, 80-75.

In the girls game, Williams scored 21 points, dished out 12 assists and made 10 steals to lead the Blue Devils.

Rachel Foster added 15 points for Notasulga, while Semetria Alexander added 12.

Cheyenne Carr scored 8 points and grabbed 19 rebounds in the win.

In the boys game, Kenneth Tolbert scored 26 points for the Blue Devils, while Fredrick McKenzie added 25 in the losing effort.

Tallassee’s Mike Smith scored 20, Brian Sampson added 18 and Tyler Grant scored 13 in the Tigers’ win.

Ballard drops tough road game
LOGANVILLE, Ga. — The Ballard Christian boys lost 52-29 to Loganville Christian Academy on Tuesday.

Kyle Hammock led the Eagles (6-6) with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Judson Scott scored 9.

Ballard’s JV team also lost to Loganville, 55-18. Scott scored 12 points for the Eagles.

Ballard will host Evangel on Friday.

Opelika 9th-grade boys win
Jamarlo Alford scored 12 points to lead the Opelika ninth-grade boys basketball team to a 39-24 win over Benjamin Russell on Tuesday night.

Justin Clark scored 7 for the Bulldogs (9-2), while Kurt Hale added 6 in the win.

Opelika will play at Auburn on Monday.
