AREA ROUNDUP: Beauregard splits in round robin

ALEXANDER CITY — Beauregard’s softball team won one and lost another Saturday at the Benjamin Russell Round Robin.

Beauregard opened with a 5-0 win over Montgomery Catholic, but then fell to Benjamin Russell, 6-5 in eight innings.

Jana Cooper pitched a no-hitter in the Game 1 victory.

At the plate, Aleah Payne, Cassandra Yarbrough and Peyton Delong were each 2-for-4.

In Game 2, Amy Goodson, Megan Bledsoe and Delong each went 2-for-4 at the plate.

Beauregard (18-17) plays Russell County on Tuesday.
