AREA ROUNDUP: Glenwood falls at home to Hooper

PHENIX CITY — Glenwood fell to 3-3 on the season after a 58-55 loss to Hooper Academy on Tuesday night.

Dalton Dempsey led the Gators with 13 points, Deante Thomas had 11 and Stevie Argo had 10.

The Gators will next hit the floor in Knoxville, Tenn., for the Grace Christian Invitational beginning today.

Springwood splits with Evangel
LANETT — Springwood’s girls took a 55-51 win over Evangel Christian on Tuesday night, while the boys fell, 63-43.

Jordan Edge led Springwood’s girls with 24 points as they improved to 3-1 on the season.

Mindy Spurlock had 8.

Springwood’s boys had a 25-24 halftime lead, but saw that lead quickly evaporate in the second half in the 20-point loss.

Taylor Coleman led Springwood (1-3) with 18 points, and Justin Vallia had 16.

Springwood will travel to face Coosa Valley on Friday.

In JV action Tuesday, Springwood’s girls took a 25-20 win over Evangel, led by 13 points from Rachel Coleman.

The JV points fell, 27-18, led by 6 points apiece from Mitchell Jennings and Will Gregory.

OHS JV splits with Benjamin Russell
ALEXANDER CITY — Opelika’s JV boys took a 54-48 win over Benjamin Russell on Wednesday night.

Ikeem Colquitt led the Bulldogs (4-0) with 20 points, while Jamarlo Alford had 11 points and Kurt Hale added 10.

The Bulldog girls fell, 30-26.

Jasmine Syndor had 9 points and six rebounds, and Naequarious Hughley had 12 rebounds for Opelika (0-3).

Both teams will face Smiths Station on the road today.

AHS JV girls roll over BTW
TUSKEGEE — Led by 16 points from Ashley Harris, Auburn High’s JV girls took a 42-14 win over BTW on Wednesday.

Jakeithia Carr had 8 points for the Tigers (6-2), who will face Benjamin Russell today.
