Lee County Tournament tips off today

Lee County basketball bragging rights will be on the line beginning today.

The high schools making up the Lee County Schools foursome will square off in the next three days in the Lee County Basketball Tournament.

The tournament, which rotates each year between the four schools, will be hosted this time around by Beulah.

Varsity girls play gets under way today at 5 p.m., as Smiths Station takes on Beauregard. That contest will be followed by Loachapoka taking on Beulah.

The varsity boys will crank up on Thursday with Loachapoka battling Beauregard at 5 p.m. followed by Smiths Station taking on Beulah.

Friday’s championship games will start at 5 p.m. with girls play followed by the boys championship.

Smiths Station’s girls enter as a huge favorite, sporting a 14-3 record.

On the boys’ side, things are more up for grabs as all four teams seem on equal footing.
