AREA ROUNDUP: Another game, another blowout for Ballard
Ballard continued its strong start to its inaugural season of football with a 60-26 win over LaFayette Christian on Friday afternoon.
Kyle Hammock completed 4-of-7 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed 18 times for 51 yards and two more touchdowns.
Jacob Hall had 11 carries for 105 yards and two touchdowns and also caught a 51-yard touchdown pass. His 87 return yards gave him 243 all-purpose yards on the day.
Jud Butler had eight carries for 43 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, William Cahill had five tackles and two sacks and Jordan Rumfelt had five solo tackles and an
interception.
The Eagles (3-0) will next face Golden Acres at home next Friday at 5 p.m.
Smiths Station wins big in Rose’s debut
TALLADEGA — Smiths Station scored early and often in a 54-0 win over Talladega on Friday night.
Quarterback Cody Hussey was 2-for-2 for 44 yards and a touchdown, and also carried five times for 104 yards and another touchdown.
Chris Whitehorn had 12 carries for 119 yards, and Robert Frinks had 38 yards and three touchdowns.
Justin Elias returned an interception 37 yards for a touchdown, and Broderick Austin and Marcus Bilbrew had rushing touchdowns.
The Panthers (1-0) will host Northview next week at 7 p.m.
Williams runs wild as Glenwood wins
PHENIX CITY — Arthur Williams rushed four times for 143 yards and two touchdowns and caught three passes for 40 yards and another touchdown as Glenwood defeated Marengo Academy, 33-21.
Dudley Taylor rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown and Marcus Woods had 76 yards and a score for the Gators (1-0), who racked up 315 yards rushing in the win.
Glenwood will host Ft. Dale next week.
