BEULAH — This game went back and forth all night long, with the Bobcats holding on to win a close one over Wadley, 34-27.
Beulah came out of the gate hot, as it moved down the field on its first drive of the game, scoring a touchdown off a 35-yard touchdown run by senior running back Jordan Wimberly.
Wadley didn’t stay down long though, and answered back on its first drive after a 79-yard pass set it up for a 1-yard run by Jeffrey Siskey.
Defense was hard to come by in this high-powered, offensive shootout at Bobcat Stadium.
The ground game controlled the tempo for the Bobcats and leading the pack was Wimberly. He ran the ball 11 times for 122 yards and a touchdown and also had two key interceptions for the defense.
“We knew coming into the game tonight that we would have to step it up on the defensive side of the ball,” Wimberly said. “I didn’t plan to touch the ball this many times tonight but coach knew I was feeling it and let me lead the team.”
Siskey was throwing all over the field, finishing 15-of-20 for 312 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
“Siskey played well tonight but I have to give it up to our defense for stepping up late in the fourth quarter and getting the job done,” Beulah coach Steve White said. “Jordan played an amazing game on both sides of the ball tonight and couldn’t be happier for him playing like that tonight on Senior Night.”
Friday marked the last game for the 4-6 Bobcats. Wadley, whose season continues next week in the playoffs, fell to 4-6.
