PREP FOOTBALL: Dadeville’s win shakes up prep poll

Dadeville’s last-minute win at Reeltown last Thursday, the Tigers’ first in Reeltown since 1999, made some waves in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association poll, released today.

Dadeville which was ranked No. 9 in Class 3A in the preseason poll, vaulted to No. 5 and the Rebels, who were ranked No. 2 in 2A before their 24-21 loss, fell to No. 5.

Auburn High and Opelika stayed where they were in 6A — Nos. 5 and 6 — and the Tigers garnered one first-place vote after their 28-7 win over Valley.

Loachapoka remained No. 4 in 1A after beating 3A LaFayette, 35-6.

Valley and Tallassee (5A) and Lee-Scott (AISA) all received votes, while Glenwood dropped from its No. 10 spot in the AISA after a 14-12 overtime loss to Marengo Academy.
