DIXIE ROUNDUP: Auburn 11-12s move on

ATHENS — Chase Storm went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and two RBI as Auburn Blue run-ruled Central (Florence), 15-5, in five innings in the Dixie Youth O-Zone (11-12) state tournament Monday.

Travis Arnold was 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI for Auburn, Will Eiland was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Blue scattered five more hits against Central pitching.

Tyus O’Neal, Andrew White and Eiland combined for the win on the hill, giving up three earned runs.

Auburn moves on to the quarterfinals of the tournament, where it will face Chiltauga today at 5:30.

Majors (11-12) state field set
Opelika and Smiths Station both begin play in the Dixie Youth Majors (11-12) All-Star state tournament in Lincoln on Saturday.

Smiths Station, winners of the District 10 tournament, will take on South Bibb at 6 p.m.

Opelika, which lost to Smiths Station in the district finals, qualified in the top three at sub-state to make it to state.

Opelika will play Alexandria at 7:30 p.m.

The tournament runs through July 30.
