LEGENDARY SENIOR CLASSIC: Rain halts 2nd round
The second round of the Legendary Senior Amateur Classic played at the Auburn University Club was rained out Tuesday.
Donald Crump will take his first-round lead of 4-under-par 68 into today’s final round, which will begin at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
Crump, from Atlanta, leads Ron Carter by one stroke in the Senior Division (ages 55-64). Bob Hullender of San Antonio leads the Super Senior Division with a 68, one stroke ahead of Richard Tatum, Edward Craig and Spencer Sappington.
The tournament is part of the Society of Seniors Tour, which travels the country pitting the country’s best senior amateur golfers against each other on a weekly basis.
Local players David Stanfield, Bob Dumas and Frank Dial are in contention in the Senior Division with Stanfield in seventh place (73), Dumas in a tie for eighth (74) and Dial in a tie for 14th (76).
The public is invited to watch the tournament free of charge.
