MLB: Rockies sign former AHS, AU standout Nix

Former Auburn High and Auburn University standout baseball player Michael Nix was signed to a contract by the Colorado Rockies organization Thursday.

Nix reported to Tulsa, Okla., Thursday as a part of the Rockies AA affiliate, the Tulsa Drillers.

Nix, who played for Auburn University from 2004-05, played for the Atlanta Braves organization from 2006-2008.

He was released from the Braves at the end of spring training.

In his final season with Atlanta, Nix played for both the Mississippi AA club and the Richmond AAA.

Nix was 5-4 with a 5.60 ERA in 64 1/3 innings pitched.

He totaled 57 strikeouts, while walking 44 batters.
