Community Track Club heads to National Junior Olympics

The Community Track Club, consisting of athletes from Auburn, Opelika, Phenix City, Smiths Station and Valley, will travel to Greensboro, N.C., for the National Junior Olympics, which begin today.

The group spent most of the summer raising money, and now all 14 athletes are set to compete.

Team members from Auburn are Alexus Williams, Justin Smith and Katie Jackson.

Opelika runners are Jasmine Beavers, Alicia Beasley and Kimaya Johnson.

Trent Miles, Deonte’ Swinton and Reheem Campbell will represent Phenix City, and Quantavious Lockhart will represent Valley.

Smiths Station will send Zanquetta Smith, Yolanda Taylor, Renee Usher, K.P. Weeks and Veronica Bryant.

The event will run through Sunday.
