DIXIE ROUNDUP: Auburn 14s pick up big win
MONTGOMERY — Auburn cruised to an 11-1 win over Montgomery Suburban in the Dixie Boys (14) Sub-District tournament at AUM on Sunday.
Dake Rivers got the win on the mound, while Stephen Naughton and Austin Williams each had two hits.
Marshall Hartzog, Mich Griggs and Seth Taylor each had a hit for Auburn.
Auburn will face Phenix City tonight at 6 in Montgomery.
Opelika American runs past Phenix City
The Opelika American Dixie Boys (13) all-stars defeated Phenix City, 4-0, Saturday night at Duck Samford Park.
Nick Constan struck out 10 and allowed only five hits in 6 1/3 innings of work for the win on the mound.
Sawyer Stephens led Opelika American with two hits, while Garrett Brown, Zach Wood and Casey Senn all had hits.
Opelika American was scheduled to face Auburn on Sunday night, but results from that game were unavailable at press time.
Opelika American AAAs fall to Tallassee
UNION SPRINGS — The Opelika American AAA (9-10) all-stars were knocked into the losers bracket with a 9-4 loss to Tallassee on Saturday night.
Ethan Lowery led Opelika American at the plate, batting 2-for-2 with an RBI. Carter Milner, Nathan Johnson, Dalton Jenkins Jared Bartlett had the other hits for Opelika American.
Lowrey got the loss on the mound.
Auburn Ponytails move to title game
SMITHS STATION — The Auburn Ponytails all-stars took a 15-1 win over Beauregard to advance to the championship game of their Sub-District tournament on Saturday.
Lea Hix and Sara Jackson combined for 10 strikeouts out of 13 batters faced.
AnnaKathryn Prestridge, Jamiya Moore, Sara Jackson, Cheyenne Overton, Anna Claire White and Madison Rogers all had hits for Auburn.
Auburn will play the winner of tonight’s Valley-Beauregard game for the Sub-District title on Tuesday.
Valley knocks out Ledonia
VALLEY — The Valley all-stars eliminated Ledonia with a 14-4 win Saturday night.
Kyler Channon was 2-for-3 to lead Valley at the plate, while Brent Malone, Steven Hale, Keith Lowry and Padarius Damus all had hits.
Kyle Salter, Malone and River Hataway combined for the win on the mound.
Auburn Blue falls to Smiths Station
VALLEY — The Auburn Blue AAA (9-10) all-stars suffered an 11-7 setback against Smiths Station on Saturday night.
Bryan Carter, Harris White, Mic Roof, Noah Barnes and T.D. Roof combined for eight hits for Auburn Blue. Carter, Bailey Cone, Brooks Fuller and Harris White all pitched on the night, combining for 12 strikeouts.
Auburn Blue will have a bye tonight and play the Opelika National-Smiths Station winner on Tuesday.
Auburn cruises to win in 15-16s
The Auburn 15-16 all-stars took a 16-1 win over Montgomery Southern on Saturday night at Lee-Scott Academy.
Neely Boston threw a one-hitter on the mound for the win. He was also 3-for-4 from the plate, and Russell Melton was 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Trey Phillips was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Auburn.
Auburn will play Montgomery American today at 4 p.m.
