TUSCALOOSA — The Auburn swimming and diving team extended its dominance over the Southeastern Conference on Saturday night as the men’s team won its 12th-straight SEC championship and the women’s team earned its sixth team title.
Tigers pound out victory
Auburn battered ETSU pitching throughout Saturday’s game and came away with a 12-1 win. The Tigers (2-0) finished with 14 hits. Even more pleasing for Slater, AU had few bad at-bats — pop-ups or strikeouts that failed to advance baserunners or pressure the defense.

When asked the last time his squad had 91 points scored on it, he had no definitive answer.
But from now on the veteran coach knows the answer — 91-75 to Clarke County in the South Region tournament at Troy University.

TROY — One stat stood out among the rest in LaFayette’s girls South Region tournament showdown with Clarke County — 16-of-56 (28.6 percent).
That was LaFayette’s field-goal percentage for the game. And that helped Clarke County run away with a 58-37 victory in the South Region tournament at Troy University on Thursday.

The second-ranked Vols (24-2, 11-1 Southeastern Conference) cruised to an 89-70 win over Auburn on Wednesday night in their final game before traveling across the state to face their rival.
Tigers close in on tourney bid
The Tigers have bounced back from a rough start to Southeastern Conference play, winning five of their last six games. AU (18-7, 6-4 SEC) is over .500 in conference play for the first time under fourth-year head coach Nell Fortner.
And the Tigers are closing in on their first NCAA Tournament bid under Fortner.
Swimming sets U.S. record
TUSCALOOSA — The Auburn swimming and diving team wasted no time getting thing started Wednesday in the opening day of the SEC Championships as the 800 freestyle relay team of Ava Ohlgren, Caitlin Geary Melissa Marik and Emily Kukors set a new American record.
