Death Notices, Obituaries
All obituaries (including photo) cost .25 cents per word. Funeral homes must submit obituaries and photos by 3 p.m., the day before the obituary is to be published. Obituaries are accepted only through funeral homes. Photos: The Opelika-Auburn News publishes photographs with its obituaries. The photograph must be delivered or e-mailed to the Opelika- Auburn News by 3 p.m., the day before the obituary is to be published. Please label the name of the deceased on the back of the photograph exactly as the name will appear in the obituary.

Letters to the Editor
The Opelika-Auburn News welcomes letters from readers and reserves the right to publish those we deem appropriate. Letters must be signed and include writer's address and daytime phone number. Letters should be no more than 300 words. All letters are subject to editing for length and clarity. Letters must include day and evening telephone numbers for verification. Letters that cannot be verified will not be considered for publication. Unsigned letters will not be published.

Weddings and Engagements
All weddings, engagements, anniversary and birth announcements are covered by the Opelika-Auburn News’ Milestones policy. All announcements cost 25 cents per word. There is a $5 fee for including a photo and a $10 fee for publishing the announcement online at http://www.oanow.com. The payment deadline for Sunday publication is 5 p.m. on the Wednesday prior to the desired Sunday publication date. Regardless of publish date, the deadline for payment is ten days from the day the announcement is submitted to the Opelika-Auburn News.

Announcements should be submitted by e-mail to or through the Opelika-Auburn News Web site at http://www.oanow.com, search keyword “milestones” for the online forms. All Milestones announcements are published on Sundays on the Milestones pages of the weekly Your Life section. Once submitted, a proof will be e-mailed back to the sender for approval. The proof must be approved and returned with payment to authorize publication.

Photos: The Opelika-Auburn News will publish photographs with Milestones announcements. Photos should be e-mailed for publication to .
