AREA ROUNDUP: Smiths Station tops Central

SMITHS STATIONDejah Heard and Erika Jones each scored 22 points for Smiths Station, as the Panthers beat Central, 62-44, on Friday night.

Achaia Cobb added 11 points for Smiths Station (7-2, 2-0 Area) in the win.

Central was led by Michelle Wallace’s 12 points.

LSA girls beat Central Christian
SELMA — The Lee-Scott Academy girls doubled up Central Christian, 66-33, in the first round of the Morgan Academy Tournament.

The No. 1 Warriors (5-0) were led by Melissa Maddox’s 17 points, Jessie Washington’s 15 and Olivia Maddox’s 13. Elise Dudley, an eighth grader, added 8 in the win.

LSA will play Fort Dale for championship game at 12:30 p.m. today.

LSA boys fall to Central Christian
SELMA — The No. 4 Lee-Scott Academy boys basketball team lost to No. 7 Central Christian 52-48 in the first round of the Morgan Academy Tournament.

Hayden Gunter scored 12 points to lead the Warriors (4-1), while Micah Pointer added 10 and Zach White scored 9.

The LSA boys will play Fort Dale at 11:15 a.m. today in the consolation game.

Ballard comes up short vs. White Creek
CLEVELAND, Ga. — The Ballard Christian boys basketball team lost to White Creek, 68-64, on Friday.

Ballard (4-1, 2-0 region) was led by Codi Stuckie’s 18 points. Kyle Hammock scored 16 and grabbed nine rebounds, while Judson Scott scored 12 points. Judson Butler added 11 points and eight rebounds.

The Ballard JV team won 42-40 in triple overtime. Joseph Sullen hit the game-winner with 2 seconds left.

Judson Scott scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win, while Sullen scored 9 points and nabbed 14 boards. David Good scored 11 points and had nine rebounds. Eleven-year-old Dalton Starling scored 8 points for Ballard’s JV team in the win.

Beulah’s boys take out Woodland
WOODLAND — Justin Harper led the Beulah boys basketball team with 21 points in a win over Woodland, 64-51.

Jordan Wimberly added 20 points, while Jartinez McCants scored 13.

Beulah (4-2) will host Dadeville on Tuesday.

Lyman Ward stays unbeaten
CAMP HILL — The Lyman Ward Rangers beat Ashford Academy, 67-63, to move to 3-0 on the season.

Justin Minor led the Rangers with 23 points, while Kyle Johnson added 16 points and seven rebounds. Jarrett Kupec scored 8 and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Lyman Ward will play Chambers on Tuesday.
