Former Auburn swimmer Kirsty Coventry posted two wins Monday as the Missouri Grand Prix came to a close, capping off an impressive week for the Zimbabwe native following her World record performance Saturday.

Coventry started off the meet by winning the 100m back with a time of 59.47, setting a U.S. Open record and coming three-tenths of a second shy of the World record held by Natalie Coughlin (59.44).

She had some familiar company in the race as former teammate Margaret Hoelzer finished fifth with a time of 1:01.55.

Current Tiger Rachel Goh, who is taking the year off to prepare for Australian Olympic Trials, also made the final in the 100m back, finishing seventh with a time of 1:02.58.

The win for Coventry was the first of two for her on the day as she followed it up with a victory in the 200m IM, touching in at 2:10.08 — a pool and meet record.

Among former Auburn men’s swimmers, it was Olympic gold medalist Mark Gangloff with the top performance as he finished second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:01.22.

Another Auburn University Olympian, Jeremy Knowles of the Bahamas, earned a medal as he finished third in the 200m IM, clocking a time of 2:04.31.

Also competing on the final day of the meet were Doug Van Wie and Eric Shanteau. Van Wie finished eighth in the 100m back with a time of 56.04, while Shanteau won the C Final, finishing 17th overall, with a time of 58.09.

The fifth-ranked Auburn swimming and diving teams return to action this week as the Tigers travel to Tuscaloosa for the SEC Championships.
