The Opelika baseball team wasted no time Tuesday against Prattville.
The Bulldogs mercy-ruled the Lions, 12-2, in five innings, with Zach Blatt earning the win.
The senior pitcher threw all five innings for Opelika, giving up just two hits and striking out five.
Blatt also was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI. Drake Sasser also was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Chance Lawrence and Matt Middleton also had an RBI apiece in the Bulldogs’ win. Mike Love scored three runs, while Jonathan Campbell scored two. Brooks Robinson was 1-for-3 with a run scored, as well.
Vincent’s bat leads Beauregard past Eufaula
EUFAULA — Railey Vincent hit two grand slams in two games Tuesday night as Beauregard swept Eufaula in a doubleheader, 15-4 and 16-0.
Vincent, who hit one grand slam in each game, was also the winning pitcher in Game 1.
Caleb Cofield won Game 2, while hitting a three-run home run in Game 1 for the Hornets (2-0).
Auburn High soccer blanks Northside
The Auburn High girls soccer team shutout Northside (Ga.), 10-0 on Tuesday night.
The Tigers (2-1) were led by Madison Drinkard’s hat trick. Betsy Pudner scored two goals, while Barrett Pangle, Madison Hill, Jenna Strother, Kristen Phillips and Christine Schwartz each scored a goal in the win.
Auburn travels to Grayson (Ga.) on Friday to take on the 2007 Georgia state champions.
Tallassee baseball sweeps Dadeville
TALLASSEE — Brad Stone had a hot night at the plate for Tallassee as the Tigers beat Dadeville in a season-opening doubleheader, 6-5 and 13-3.
In Game 1, Stone went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Trey Gill was the game’s winning pitcher.
In the nightcap, Stone drove in four runs, while David Carlisle went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Channing Ellis earned the win for the Tigers (2-0), who host St. James on Thursday.
