Three former Tigers head to Pro Bowl

Three former Auburn Tiger football players have been selected to participate in the National Football League’s Pro Bowl, to be held Feb. 10 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Placekicker Rob Bironas of the Tennessee Titans, offensive tackle Marcus McNeill of the San Diego Chargers and fullback Tony Richardson of the Minnesota Vikings will all participate.
Bironas will serve as the AFC’s kicker after leading all NFL kickers with 35 made field goals on 39 attempts (89.7 percent).
McNeill was added to the AFC’s Pro Bowl squad Tuesday, Jan. 29, as an injury replacement. It will mark the second Pro Bowl appearance in as many seasons for
McNeill.
Richardson, in his 13th NFL season and second in Minnesota, will be making his third trip to the Pro Bowl.

AU student to compete in ARCA race at Daytona
DULUTH, Ga. — Following a successful completion of the ARCA RE/MAX Series open test session at Daytona International Speedway in December, Michael Phelps and the DMT Motorsports team are focusing their attention on the season opener of the ARCA RE/MAX series.
The “ARCA 200” is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9. The event will be broadcast live on SPEED at 3 p.m. and will serve as a show-opener for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series All-Star race, the Budweiser Shootout, which is scheduled to be run later on that same night.
Phelps, a local talent raised in the suburbs of Atlanta, launched his racing career in 2006 at the age of 17.
Phelps graduated from Greater Atlanta Christian School in June of 2007 excelling in both athletics and academics. Phelps is currently enrolled as a freshman at Auburn University studying pre-engineering. This competitive young man never thought twice about pursuing a college degree while chasing a career in motorsports.

AU soccer to play six exhibition matches
The Auburn soccer team has put together what will be a challenging spring schedule, as it will play six exhibition matches beginning March 1.
Auburn will face five collegiate teams that advanced to the 2007 NCAA Soccer Championship, as well as the Atlanta Silverbacks, a team from the W-League.
