Editor’s Note: This is the second in a series of stories previewing Friday’s high school football matchups. Today, Class 2A-5A. Friday, Game of the Week and Class 6A

The start to Valley’s season definitely wasn’t what Roger McDonald hoped for.

That was a rough, 42-7 loss to Auburn.

The Rams, though, have bounced back in a huge way the past two weeks.

Not only has Valley won its first two Class 5A-Region 2 games, it has outscored its opponents, 80-21. Last week it was a 38-7 smackdown of Carroll-Ozark.

But Friday, Valley will play host to a team much stronger than any of the three it’s seen to this point.

Charles Henderson rolls into the Valley Sportsplex with a 3-0 record and a No. 3 ranking.

The Trojans went 12-1 last year, rolling through the regular season undefeated before being knocked off in the 5A quarterfinals.

Tallassee (2-1) at Rehobeth (0-3)
Tallassee has the momentum after knocking off then-No. 1 Eufaula, 20-17.

Rehobeth has been outscored, 104-48, in three games.

Carroll-Ozark (1-2) at BTW (1-2)
Both teams are 0-2 in Class 5A-Region 2 and a third loss would leave a nearly-insurmountable hill to climb to reach the playoffs.

One week after nearly knocking off No. 1 Eufaula, BTW fell to Charles Henderson, 34-14.

Class 3A
Marbury (0-3) at Beulah (0-3)

If there was ever a prime opportunity to break a losing streak for Beulah, it is now.

Marbury is 0-3 and is being outscored, 82-31.

However, Beulah has allowed a Region 3-worst 123 points so far while scoring just 34.

Montgomery Academy (2-1) at LaFayette (1-2)
LaFayette took one on the chin last week in a 37-0 loss to No. 2 Trinity.

Things get a little easier this week, but not by much.

Montgomery Academy has won two consecutive to open Region 3 play, including a 27-0 win last week over B.B. Comer.

Class 2A
No. 9 Lanett (3-0) at Horseshoe Bend (1-2)

Lanett continued it’s strong start to the season with a 20-14, overtime win over Lineville last week.

Horseshoe Bend is coming off its first win of the year.

Reeltown (2-1) at Goshen (0-3)
Reeltown has played like a team on a mission since dropping its first game of the year.

Since an opening loss to Dadeville in which it scored just six points, Reeltown has rolled up 90 points and given up just 18.
