If Gene Chizik was swinging for the home-run fence on his first official weekend of hosting prospective recruits, he’s aiming for the left-field scoreboard this time.
According to various scouting Web sites, Auburn will host a number of highly-rated prospects today and Sunday, few of whom have committed and a number of whom hadn’t really considered Auburn until Chizik’s arrival.
“There are a lot of moving parts right now because you know you have commitments that have been in place for a long time,” Chizik said recently. “You have other guys that you want to bring into recruit that maybe weren’t necessarily in the mix before, which is a little difficult.”
Chizik and his freshly-hired staff should be able to gauge just how difficult it is after this weekend.
“We are behind the 8-ball in relationships, but I think we can make that up. I really do,” Chizik said last week. “I think we’ve got great guys on our staff that are out recruiting right now that have great Alabama relationships with different coaches in this state. The guys that I brought in, they’ve got great relationships with coaches at schools that they’ve recruited before, so we’re getting help.”
Only one of this weekend’s visitors, Donald Ford of Odenville, has verbally committed to the Tigers. Auburn High offensive lineman John Sullen, who committed to Southern Miss, will make the short trip over to Auburn’s facilities.

* Nosa Eguae — DE — 3-star — Mansfield (Texas): Uncommitted
