Auburn and West Virginia are headed back to the primetime national spotlight.
ESPN announced Wednesday that the Sept. 19 rematch between the Tigers and Mountaineers at Jordan-Hare Stadium will air at 6:45 p.m. on either ESPN or ESPN2.
The determination of the originating network will be decided after games of Sept. 12.
This marks just the second of Auburn’s 12 regular season games to receive a set start time.
The Nov. 27 Iron Bowl with Alabama at Jordan-Hare Stadium is slated for 1:30 p.m. and will air on CBS.
Per the SEC’s new, billion-dollar television deal, 11 of the conference’s teams’ 12 regular season games will air on national television, the bulk of them on ESPN’s family of networks.
In the first half of the teams’ home-and-home agreement, Auburn and West Virginia squared off last season in Morgantown, W.Va., under ESPN’s Thursday-night football spotlight.
In what was expected to be a much more premier matchup until both teams faltered early in the season, Auburn stormed out to a 17-3 lead before the Mountaineers rattled off 31 unanswered points to double up the reeling Tigers, 34-17 on a chilly October night.
