TUSKEGEE — Andrew Naismith went all six innings, striking out 12 and allowing just one hit, in the Auburn Orange AAA (9-10) All-Star team’s 3-0 victory over Beauregard in the second round of the District 10 Sub-District 1 tournament Saturday night.
Naismith helped his own cause at the plate, as he rapped a triple and drove two runs home.
Kason Howell and Tyler Rabren each had a single and a run, respectively, while T.J. Scott had a double and a run.
The Auburn Orange AAA All-Star team advanced to Tuesday’s semifinals with the victory and will face an opponent to be determined in Monday’s losers’ bracket game.
‘Gard picks up hits, but falls short
Beauregard got three hits from three different players, but it wasn’t enough to beat East Montgomery in a 3-0 loss at the Dixie Angels (9-10) District 5 tournament Saturday at Felton Little Park.
Beauregard will face Alex City in an elimination game Monday at 6 p.m. at Felton Little Park.
Chandler Campbell, Bailie Barnes and Mya Patrick all picked up hits for Beauregard in the loss. East Montgomery scored all three of its runs in the third inning.
Becca Caldwell picked up the victory for Alex City, which eliminated Montgomery American with a 4-2 victory.
Lili Brooks and Maya Towns doubled, while Caldwell picked up a single in the win.
East Montgomery will play the winner of Alex City/Beauregard on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Felton Little Park.
Auburn Orange no-hits Tuskegee
TUSKEGEE — The Auburn Orange AAA (9-10) All-Star team beat Tuskegee 15-0 in three innings in the first round of the District 10 Sub-District 1 tournament Friday night.
Rowdy Jordan and Trey Woodham combined for three-inning no-hitter.
Opelika American AAA beats Russell County
UNION SPRINGS — Dalton Jenkins went 3-for-3 and drove in eight runs to lead Opelika American past Russell County in the first round of the Dixie AAA (9-10) District 10 Sub-District 2 All-Star tournament Friday night.
Joey Payne, Brady Watts and Ethan Lowrey combined on the mound for the win.
CORRECTION
In Saturday’s Opelika-Auburn News’ Dixie Roundup, an Auburn Dixie Angels (9-10) player was misidentified.
Lauren Terry had two hits for the Auburn All-Stars in their 11-0 loss to Alexander City on Friday night in the District 5 tournament.
