MONTGOMERY — Playing a rare basketball doubleheader, the Opelika girls fell in the finals of the St. James Tournament on Saturday.
The Bulldogs (2-1) defeated St. James, 42-33, in the morning to advance to the title game.
Alicia Beasley, Jasmine Hearst and Bethany Howard had 8 points each in the win.
In the final, Opelika took a 54-30 loss at the hands of Fairfield.
Howard, who was named to the All-Tournament Team, led the Bulldogs with 7 points.
Opelika will next hit the floor Friday when it hosts Lanett.
