JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — The Auburn men’s golf team carded a 3-under 291 and is in 13th after Round 2 of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Ridges Golf Club.
Senior Cole Moreland (74-146) leads all Tigers in a tie for 30th followed by freshman David Zickler (72-148), tied for 41st. Sophomores Kyle Kopsick (72-149) and Will McCurdy are tied for 45th. Sophomore John Stembridge (73-152) is tied for 59th.
“We got off to a good start again, like yesterday,” said Auburn head coach Nick Clinard. “We played well overall but didn’t score as low as we would have liked. We still have some work to do on our up-and-downs. It’s a long season. One tournament doesn’t kill us. We have the entire season to continue to improve.“
No. 13 Tennessee (280-567) and No. 8 Oregon State (280-567) are tied for the team lead followed by Virginia (282-572), Missouri (289-576), Virginia Tech (287-577), Wake Forest (290-580), ETSU (287-581), NC-Wilmington (293-583), No. 23 Kent State (287-584), North Carolina (285-584), Duke (296-586), Coastal Carolina (295-590), Auburn (291-591), No. 11 NC State (297-594) and UAB (305-611).
Oregon State’s Diego Velasquez (70-136) holds the individual lead followed by NC Wilmington’s Josh Brock (70-139) and Tennessee’s David Holmes (68-139) in a tie for second.
The Tigers will tee off the back nine at 9:10 a.m. with UAB and NC State.
Soccer faces Kentucky today at home
The Auburn soccer team returns to the field on Sunday at 1 p.m. when it plays host to Kentucky in a Southeastern Conference matchup.
Auburn is coming off of a 3-0 win over Vanderbilt on Friday night while Kentucky lost, 2-0, to Alabama in its last match.
Auburn is 6-6-3, 3-4-0 SEC while Kentucky is 4-7-4, 1-5-1 SEC.
