DOTHAN — Auburn High’s volleyball team finished third at the Class 6A, Regional B Tournament at Northview High School and qualified for Thursday’s sub-state round.
The Tigers (26-13) beat Smiths Station in the opening round, 25-12, 25-19, 25-5 then fell to eventual regional champion Enterprise, 25-21, 24-26, 25-16, 26-24 before rebounding to beat Prattville 25-22, 21-25, 23-25, 26-24 in the consolation contest.
Auburn will travel to fifth-ranked Murphy for Thursday’s sub-state competition.
The winner of Thursday’s contest will advance to the Elite Eight in Pelham for a chance at the Class 6A state title.
Lean Zutter led Auburn in its win over Smiths Station, delivering 28 assists and four digs. Nicole Hiett had two aces and 19 digs, and Liz Alley had seven kills and seven digs.
In the loss to Enterprise, Hannah Birdsong pounded out 22 kills, two blocks and four digs, and Rebecca Wynne had 11 kills, 20 digs and two blocks. Zutter added 34 assists and 11 digs and Hiett had 25 digs.
In the consolation win over Prattville, Birdsong had 17 kills, four blocks and nine digs, Wynne had six kills, two aces and 16 digs, and Zutter had 22 assists, two kills and eight digs.

Beulah falls in regional
MONTGOMERY — Beulah’s volleyball season came to an end in a 3-0 loss to Cordova on Saturday.
Emily Miller had two aces, two digs and an assist, Jenna Walker had an ace a block and five digs and Olivia Martin had two aces, two blocks and three kills.
The Bobcats finished the season with a record of 9-12.
