AREA ROUNDUP: Beauregard takes doubleheader sweep

BEAUREGARD — The Beauregard softball team had an easy time of it in a doubleheader with BTW on Monday, taking wins of 28-0 and 20-0, both of which were called after three innings.

Chelsea Messer pitched all three innings in the first game without allowing a hit, and struck out four.

Peyton DeLong batted 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple, a double and six RBI, and Tracy Griggs was 3-for-3 with four RBI for the Hornets (6-6).

Chloe Swatts faced nine batters in the second game and struck out all nine.

Haley Hill and Abby Senn each had three hits and scored four runs.

Beauregard will travel to Handley today at 4 p.m.

Glenwood takes big win over Edgewood
TROY — Glenwood claimed a 13-3, mercy-rule win over Edgewood on Monday afternoon at Troy University.

Tyler Brown went all six innings for Glenwood for the win, improving to 2-0 on the season.

Kyle Switzer batted 3-for-5 with two RBI, Will Allison was 3-for-5 with three RBI, Keaton Aldridge was 2-for-2 with two RBI and Carson Bowers had a bases-clearing, three-RBI double for the Gators (7-0).

Glenwood will host Lee-Scott today at 3:30 p.m.

AHS sweeps Benjamin Russell
ALEXANDER CITY — Auburn High’s girls soccer team opened sectional play with a 6-0 win at Benjamin Russell on Monday night, and the boys followed by winning on penalty kicks after a 0-0 tie.

In the girls game, Leigh Anne Kuhn had two goals, and Christine Schwartz, Madison Drinkard, Emily Martin and Kaylin Lewis scored the other Tiger goals.

Rebecca Wynne recorded the shutout in goal.

In the boys game, Clint Lothrop shut out the Wildcats for 100 minutes, then stopped three of eight shots from the mark as the Tigers (6-2) won, 6-5, in penalty kicks.

Both teams will host Wetumpka today.

Beauregard sweeps Eufaula
EUFAULA — Beauregard’s baseball team claimed a doubleheader sweep of Eufaula on Monday night.

Nathan Edwards got the win on the mound in the first game, a 13-6 Hornets victory.

Cory Thompson batted 3-for-4 with three RBI, Taylor Ragsdale was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI and Edwards hit 1-for-1 and walked three times.

Jake Brown got the win at pitcher in the second game, a 9-8 Beauregard win.

Edwards was 1-for-2 with a home run, Will Walker was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI and Zane Rivers batted 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The Hornets (11-4) will travel to Enterprise on Friday.

Lee-Scott falls at Prattville Christian
PRATTVILLE — Michael Jensen scored Lee-Scott’s lone goal as the Warriors dropped a 2-1 decision at Prattville Christian on Monday night.

The Warriors (3-2) will travel to Tuscaloosa Academy on Thursday.

Opelika falls to Wetumpka
Opelika fell to 3-6 on the season after a 7-2 home loss to Wetumpka on Monday night.

Blake Smith got the loss on the mound, tossing a complete game and allowing only five hits, but was hurt by six errors as only three Indian runs were earned.

Tyler Peppers batted 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI, and Taylor Daniel was 1-for-4 with a double and a stolen base. Smith and Clayton Taylor also had hits.

The Bulldogs will travel to Valley on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Lee-Scott tennis sweeps Kingwood
Lee-Scott’s boys and girls tennis teams improved to 5-0 on the season with wins over Kingwood on Monday.

The girls won their match, 7-0, with Bailey Beckwith, Mary Margeret James, Sarah Coleman Whittelsey, Laken Lawler and Shelby Slocum picking up singles wins, and Beckwith/James and Whittelsey/Slocum winning in doubles.

The boys won, 6-1, with Taylor Hardy, Hayden Gunter, Will Hester and Josh Cowles taking the singles wins, and Hardy/Gunter and Hester/Kevin Buford winning in doubles.

AHS JV takes shutout win over Central
The Auburn High JV boys soccer team took a 5-0 win over Central on Monday night.

Christian Reyes and Killian Delmore scored two goals apiece, and Andrew Carter scored one.

The Tigers will travel to Benjamin Russell today.

OMS takes win over Wacoochee
Opelika Middle School recorded a 1-0 win over Wacoochee Middle School on Monday.

Khalil Bell scored the only goal of the match late in the second half off an assist from Jorge Herrera.

The Bulldogs will travel to Alex City Middle School on Thursday.
